Building Stronger Communities

A Community Education and Fundraising event for local Community Services

Building Stronger Communities Together is a community-focused education initiative designed to bring local businesses together to learn, connect, and strengthen support for

community services in your region.

What Businesses Will Learn

Understanding Community Support

Local businesses will gain insight into the services available through community organisations, helping them understand:

  • How and when people may seek support

  • Where to refer customers, staff, or community members when concerns arise

  • How businesses can be part of a stronger local support network

Mental Health & Psychosocial Awareness

Delivered by OMAW, this interactive session introduces:

  • Core Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) principles

  • Common psychosocial hazards in small and local businesses

  • How these risks affect mental health when left unaddressed

  • Why early awareness and people-first responses protect both people and businesses

The focus is practical, relatable, and relevant to everyday business life — not clinical or compliance-heavy.

Who Should Attend

This session is ideal for:

  • Small and medium business owners

  • Managers and supervisors

  • HR, WHS, and People & Culture roles

  • Family-run and community-based businesses

No previous mental health training is required.

A Simple Way to Give Back

Building Stronger Communities Together can also operate as a fundraising event, with businesses invited to make a donation to attend.

This allows local businesses to:

  • Invest in their own learning

  • Support vital community services

  • Strengthen their reputation as a values-led, people-first workplace

Why Local Businesses Get Involved

By attending, businesses will:

  • Build confidence having early, supportive conversations

  • Better recognise psychosocial risks in everyday work environments

  • Understand local support pathways for staff and customers

  • Strengthen their connection to the local community

  • Contribute to healthier, safer workplaces and communities
